Job opportunity for young engineers from AKE Asansör through its Vocational Training Project

The second edition of AKE's Profession Acquisition Project has started, with a mentoring system

AKE Asansör, an elevator, escalator and accessibility systems manufacturing and sales company operating in the Antalya Organized Industrial Zone, has prepared the second edition of its Vocational Training Project. The company, which carried out the first edition of the project aimed at training engineers and bringing them into the industry last year during August and November, launched the second phase of the project with a meeting it held for the trainees in response to strong interest.

The second phase of the Vocational Training Project that AKE Asansör runs to bring inexperienced engineers into the industry will take place with 23 trainees selected from among 700 applications. Young female engineers make up 30% of the trainees.  During the vocational training, which will last until May, the trainees will work in the elevator, escalator, accessibility systems and cabin & control panel departments. They will also receive training in the purchasing, production planning and logistics departments.

In the project, which is carried out with the support of İşkur and has seen intense demand, at least 15 more inexperienced engineers will begin working within the company at the end of the training.

AKE Asansör Deputy General Manager Canan Keskin Gürkan stated that, unlike companies looking for experienced engineers, they provide newly graduated young people with the opportunity to learn and support them in gaining experience. Gürkan continued her remarks about the Vocational Training Projects as follows:  “We wanted to roll up our sleeves to make future generations love our profession and to contribute to national employment. We have prepared the second edition of our project, the first of which we completed successfully. Elevator and escalator production is a developing industry all over the world. We too contribute to our industry by training young people. Trainees who are graduates of Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical and Electronic Engineering can participate in our Vocational Training Project. 19 trainees took part in the first training, and at the end of the training we employed 18 trainees. We plan to employ at least 15 trainees at the end of the second training. 30% of the engineers taking part in our AKE MEP 2nd phase are women. Furthermore, throughout the program, an expert engineer working within AKE has been selected as a mentor, and our trainee engineer who graduated from AKE MEP 1 will accompany our trainees as a mentor assistant throughout their training.  We will continue to impart experience without requiring prior experience.”

Antalya Provincial Director of the Labor and Employment Agency Veli Tekkanat, for his part, emphasized that the project organized by AKE Asansör Yürüyen Merdiven ve Engelli Sistemleri is a beacon of hope for inexperienced engineers and an exemplary practice in terms of creating employment in the industry.

At the meeting, Vocational Training Project Coordinator Zeynep Yalçıner informed the trainees about the training processes. In the closing speech of the meeting, AKE Asansör Chairman of the Board Çetin Keskin stated that they provided all the opportunities for newly graduated engineers to gain experience through the training project, and that they would receive their training accompanied by mentors in the elevator, escalator, accessibility systems and cabin & control panel departments that make up the factory's main divisions. He added that they aim to contribute to the industry with ever-innovative projects and wished the young engineers success.
